What you need to know about working at Crater Lake National Park

Setting: Work at one of America’s crown jewels, Crater Lake National Park. Crater Lake has inspired people for hundreds of years. No place else on earth combines a deep pure lake, so blue in color; sheer surrounding cliffs, almost two thousand feet high; a picturesque island; dense Ponderosa Pine forest; and a violent volcanic past.

Our Operations: We operate an historic lodge, cabins, a campground, camper store, two restaurants, two retail shops, cafe, and boat tours on Crater Lake

Dates: Jobs are available May through October. Wages: Entry-level positions start at $7.95/hour.

Age: You MUST be at least 18 years old to live in the park.

Uniforms: We provide you with uniform shirts. You will supply appropriate slacks and shoes.

Room and Board: Room costs $7.50 per day. All costs are paid through payroll deduction. All employees receive a 50% refund of the housing portion of the room upon completion of the seasonal agreement. All employees will share a room with at least two roommates. Community bathrooms, showers, laundry facilities, work out and recreation rooms. Couples housing is very limited and cannot be guaranteed (both must be Xanterra employees).

Trailer Site: $35/week through payroll deduction, with a 50% refund upon completion of seasonal agreement. Your RV must be self-contained with shower and toilet facilities.

Meals: Employees are offered meals through our employee dining room. Three meals are provided every day. Our menu offers a wide variety of hot entrees, salad bar, beverages and fresh fruit. Meals eaten are paid for through a payroll deduction. Because the Employee Dining Room serves so many people a day, it is difficult to accommodate restricted or vegetarian diets.

Laundry: Washers and dryers are located in the dorms can be used for free. You will need to supply your own laundry detergent.

Satellite TV, VCR/DVD, and limited internet access may be available in dormitory common areas.

NO PETS OF ANY KIND ARE ALLOWED IN SEASONAL COMPANY HOUSING! (This does not apply to your own RV)

Appearance Standards: With guest service our priority, Xanterra reserves the right to set appearance standards for its employees. Hairstyles must be neat and well groomed at all times and of a natural color. Dreadlocks are generally not acceptable. Beards and moustaches must be established before employment with Xanterra. Employees may wear one pair of earrings in the ears only. Rings or studs worn in any other visible body part are not acceptable.

Drug Policy: All employees must abide by the Company’s rules and regulations. A pre-employment drug screen may be required as a condition of employment and random drug testing is enforced. The Company reserves the right to conduct reasonable suspicion, post-accident and random drug and alcohol testing at any time.

Recreation: Don't forget...living at Crater Lake gives you free access to some of the best hiking, biking, camping, photography, wildlife viewing, bird watching in the world! While the average visitor only has a few hours or days to spend in a national park, you have several months. Take full advantage of this amazing opportunity!
